Grant Sound & Lighting provides corporate event production in Los Angeles, covering audio, lighting, video, staging and the crew who run them. We have worked landmark LA venues from the Dolby Theatre to the Memorial Coliseum, and we have been producing live events for over thirty years.

Los Angeles venues we have actually worked

Most pages that rank for corporate event production in Los Angeles are directories or rental catalogues. Here is the specific work behind ours.

We installed and commissioned the Atmos surround system at the Dolby Theatre. We returned to the same building for the Brave world premiere, with Hollywood Boulevard closed to traffic.

We built a welcome reception at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. We also produced a State of the Industry event at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Studio lots are their own category. We have built stages on the Paramount backlot, where a street set becomes a venue for one night and everything trucks in and out inside a booked window. On campus, we specified and installed the Meyer Sound system at USC’s Bovard Auditorium.

What makes Los Angeles events different

The equipment is the easy part in LA. Access is what decides whether an event runs on time. Corporate event lighting in Los Angeles is a good example: the rig itself is straightforward, but getting it into a Hollywood theatre between two other events is not.

Load-in windows are short and shared. A downtown hotel or a theatre on Hollywood Boulevard may give you a few hours between the previous event and yours, and street closures need permits booked well in advance. We plan the build backwards from the load-out, not forwards from the doors.

Union rules vary by venue. Some houses require their own stagehands, some require a house electrician for any power tie-in, and a few require both. That changes the crew line on your quote and it is better known at the site visit than on the day.

Traffic is a technical constraint, not just an inconvenience. A truck that leaves Ventura at the wrong hour arrives two hours late for a four-hour load-in. We schedule around it rather than hoping.

Production, not rental

If you are still shortlisting suppliers, our guide to event production companies in Los Angeles sets out the differences. Page one for this search is mostly directories, talent agencies and national rental houses. A rental house drops equipment at the dock. That works if you already employ technicians who know the gear.

We design the system, do the site visit, build the room, run the show and strike it. The difference shows up when something fails mid-session, because only a company with crew on site can fix it while the speaker keeps talking. Our concert sound systems are our own inventory, maintained by the people who operate them. The same goes for our stage lighting.

We also do permanent installs, which most event rental companies do not. The Dolby and USC systems above are still in service. That work is why our event specs tend to be conservative: we have had to live with the results. The full range of what we cover is set out on our event production services page.

What corporate event production costs in Los Angeles

Corporate AV is quoted per room and per day rather than from a rate card, and published figures vary widely because they cover different scopes.

Providers ranking for this question put standard conference audio at $5,000 to $10,000. For a 300-person three-day conference, published breakdowns run roughly $5,000 to $15,000 each for audio and video, $3,000 to $10,000 for lighting, and $10,000 to $25,000 for labor. Full branded general-session production in a single room is quoted from about $25,000 upward.

Los Angeles sits at the higher end of those ranges, mainly because of crew rates, union requirements at some venues and load-in restrictions that add hours. We quote equipment, crew, transport and load-in separately so you can see which of those is driving your number.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an average corporate event cost in Los Angeles?

An average corporate event in Los Angeles varies with room count and program. Published figures put standard conference audio at $5,000 to $10,000, a 300-person multi-day conference at $5,000 to $15,000 each for audio and video plus $10,000 to $25,000 in crew, and a full branded general session from $25,000 upward. LA sits at the higher end because of crew rates and venue rules.

Do you have a Los Angeles location?

No, we are based in Ventura and travel into Los Angeles for events, which we do regularly. Travel and crew time appear as their own line on the quote rather than being hidden in the equipment cost. For most LA jobs the difference is smaller than clients expect, because crew hours rather than mileage drive the number.

Can you work union venues in Los Angeles?

Yes, we work union venues in Los Angeles regularly. Some houses require their own stagehands, some require a house electrician for power tie-ins, and requirements differ between theatres, hotels and convention spaces. We confirm the rules at the site visit so the crew line in your quote is accurate rather than optimistic.

What size events do you handle?

We handle events from single meeting rooms to premieres and stadium receptions. Our LA work has included a world premiere at the Dolby Theatre and a welcome reception at the Memorial Coliseum, alongside ordinary single-room corporate presentations. Nearby we also cover corporate AV in Westlake Village.
